© Kidogo Art InstituteThis accredited, Cert III level course is a unique initiative of the Kidogo Art Institute designed by Joanna Robertson for Aboriginal artists who want to learn how to improve the standard of their art practice so they can achieve better success in the sale of their artworks. Covering a vast array of useful techniques and knowledge, the course will help aboriginal artists paint better pictures and attract better prices for their artwork, allowing them to enhance their reputations as artists, sell more work than ever before, and make greater profit from the sale of their art.
The course is designed to help you:
Improve your painting techniques and composition, enhance your colour-mixing skills, teach you to control paint consistency and introduce you to many different painting techniques and effects, including impasto (thick paint) and glazing (thin transparent layers of paint).
Improve your skills in drawing help you develop compositions and ideas through sketching, increase your life-drawing and nature study skills, help you utilise good drawing practice to improve the quality of your painting.
You will learn:
To photograph your paintings, to publicise and market your paintings for print and on the Internet, to prepare a media release, to get free advertising, to arrange your own exhibition, to price your artwork, to hang and light an exhibition to best effect and much, much more. During your course, you will be invited to participate in a public exhibition at Kidogo Arthouse Gallery.
All Kidogo Art Institute courses are taught by professional artists.
This course will include visits and talks by successful Aboriginal artists who will deepen your knowledge of the history of Aboriginal art and offer tips and advice on how to become more successful. It will also include visits and talks by government funding bodies.
The course will also provide in-depth advice on how to enhance your professional practice.

Total Course Hours: 2.5 days per week for 1 year
Cost: The fees are the same as what you would pay for a TAFE course.
Material Cost: There will be a subsidized 'Materials Fee Charge' of $150 per semester.
