Kidogo Art Scholarship Program

Kidogo Art Scholarship Program

For Gifted and Talented Emerging Artists

'Great nations write their autobiographies in three manuscripts: the book of their deeds, the book of their words and the book of their art.'
John Ruskin

Our scholarship program offers a rare opportunity for emerging artists to study with a group of Australia's most talented art students and learn from some of the most prominent artist professionals.

Acceptance into the scholarship program is based solely on merit.

Our Aim

To offer 20 scholarships to Australia's most gifted emerging painters.

Our Vision

To provide exceptional emerging artists with the opportunity to learn in a unique, inspiring environment where excellence thrives.

Our Philosophy

That art students should be nurtured and taught through encouragement rather than criticism in the early stages of their careers.

Our approach relies on leadership, demonstration and learning from top professionals and is underpinned by years of international experience.

What's special about the Kidogo Art Scholarship Program?

The program is designed to:
- encourage the mastery of traditional techniques of painting and drawing as well as a comprehensive understanding of art fundamentals
- allow talented students to fulfil their artistic potential
- interweave studio practice, research, colour theory, design, art history and professional practice
- provide a vibrant learning environment where talented students can blossom
- model the European art education system - where local, interstate and visiting international artists are invited to work with the students in 'blocks' ranging from a 1 hour lecture to 2-4 week projects
- have a flexible and dynamic structure that offers students regular opportunities to engage with exhibiting artists, curators and academics - building connections in the professional art world

Our Lecturers

Our lecturers are highly skilled artists, curators, entrepreneurs, thinkers, academics, art critics, writers, consultants and theorists whose practice and expertise spans the local, national and international art scene.

As an organisation, we really look after the interests of our visiting lecturers. Because of this, we are able to attract Australia's best and busiest artists.

A sample of our scholarship course lecturers include:

Phillip Cook
Nigel Hewitt
Linda van der Merwe
