October is an exciting month for a group of seven women who will exhibit new works at Fremantle’s Kidogo Art House. Working under the guidance of Fremantle artist Joss Gregson, the group have explored a variety of themes for a collective exhibition.
Athena Daly’s abstract works were inspired by the aerial views of Australia’s vast inland dry lakes and captures the unique colours and play of light on salt pans. Works from Anne Zekas, Marylyn West and Lea Smith reflect the Australian environment and are as diverse as the simplicity of a sea urchin washed ashore to the brilliance of light playing on pandanus trees in the far north to the emotive response to the impact of fire. Sally Lee’s paintings explore the rich texture of inland farms to the rugged, raw gorge country in contrast to the works of Lynfae Harris which capture the tighter lines of the built environment.
Susie Marwick, has painted in and around Rottnest for many years and is well known for her paintings of the Fremantle Harbour and the people who use it.
