Each year, the annual “Kidogo Arthouse Aboriginal Artists and Student Show” in Fremantle is wildly anticipated and warmly received – it is the show to watch out for, to spot and to pick out the best of Perth’s emerging Indigenous talent.

Each year the show is a sell out as new and canny collectors snap up great unique works at excellent prices.

Its worth the pilgrimage to see such fine work, by relatively unknown artists. Each year several of these painters get invited to do major commissions and will win significant art awards.

Deborah Bonar, a Kidogo Art Institute graduate, who exhibited for the first time in the Kidogo Annual Aboriginal Student Show in 2009, took out this years prestigious $8,000 Cossack Aboriginal Art Prize for the whole State.

Krocette, who graduated last year was one of only two Aboriginal Perth metro artists to be selected for the CHOGM Revealed Aboriginal art exhibition showcasing WA’s most promising emerging artists.

Several of this years exhibiting artists were selected to paint a work for the “NOMAD Two Worlds” international touring Show.

On show are 46 big and small paintings ranging for $50 to $9,900.

Each day Indigenous artists paint at Kidogo Arthouse and are happy to explain their artwork and answer questions about their culture.
