About the event
Kidogo Arthouse presents A Celebration of the Life & Music of Glen Hansard, an evening of song, remembrance and community on Thursday 17 September 2026.
We at Kidogo Arthouse are deeply saddened by the recent passing of Glen Hansard. Glen had a massive connection to the people within our community and to lovers of music around the world — a Dubliner, a busker, a bandleader, an Academy Award-winning songwriter, and above all a generous soul whose songs found their way into countless lives.
From his early days with The Frames, through the extraordinary partnership with Markéta Irglová in The Swell Season and the film Once — for which he won an Oscar for Falling Slowly — to a solo career that took him from Dublin's streets to the world's greatest stages, Glen carried a rare gift: he made everyone in the room feel like part of the song.
